Common Questions
Breathe holds two official authorizations from the Antioquia Departmental Health Secretariat: one for general medical practice (DHSS0750513) and one for nursing services (DHSS0750512). This means our medical office, procedure room, and nursing team operate under the oversight of the health authority, something a standard recovery house doesn’t always have. You can view both certificates on our website and verify the numbers in the Ministry of Health’s public registry (REPS).
Many recovery houses are adapted residences, sometimes with contracted nurses but without their own healthcare authorization as a provider. A luxury hotel with a nurse on duty isn’t the same as having an authorized medical office and procedure room on-site. Breathe combines both: the legal structure of a hotel and officially authorized health services. You notice the difference at 3 a.m. if something changes.
Ask three questions: Does it have a specific healthcare authorization number? Can that number be verified in the Ministry of Health’s REPS registry? Does the authorization cover what the facility actually promises (medical office, procedures, nursing)? If they can’t give you a verifiable number, it is likely a comfortable recovery house, but without official healthcare backing.
Yes. We don’t apply a generic recovery protocol; we follow the one established by your surgeon or specialist. We keep detailed records of your medical history, medications, postoperative instructions, and your surgeon’s recommendations, and we stay in communication with your medical team throughout your recovery.
Our team assesses the situation and communicates with your surgeon. Our medical office and procedure room are equipped to handle minor situations without moving you elsewhere. If the complication is serious, the appropriate protocol is to coordinate a transfer to the right medical facility. Breathe does not replace a hospital and does not take over the clinical responsibility of the clinic where your procedure was performed.

Ideally, before your surgery. According to our guide, most complications happen in the first two weeks after discharge, not in the operating room, and many patients realize too late that they hadn’t planned for that moment. Securing your recovery space in advance gives you peace of mind and avoids last-minute decisions.
